I wrote and illustrated my first book in grade 2 about an adventurous horse named Monty. I collected all 56 original Nancy Drew books and read every single book in the library about horses and detectives. I haven't stopped reading or writing since (though that was the end of my illustrating career).
At university, I studied sociology and English literature. Since then I've done a number of strangely interesting jobs. I prepped salads at 6am for a deli, served coffee in a huge office tower and worked at a busy border crossing. I've travelled to 40 countries, including 3 months living and volunteering in Guyana, where I had the chance to meet a whole new community, make bricks and track Leatherback sea turtles. I've lived in four Canadian provinces and now live near the mountains in North Vancouver, BC with my husband, son and two incredibly fuzzy orange cats. When I'm not writing you can often find me racing through my local trails, trying not to trip on all the roots! My first novel for middle grade readers, OFFBEAT, is available now and DESIGN LIKE NATURE comes out March 16th, 2021. I've got two more book projects in the works - stay tuned! |
