A little bit about me...
I started writing in grade 2, when I wrote and illustrated my first book about an adventurous horse named Monty. I collected all 56 original Nancy Drew books and read every single book in the library about horses and detectives. I haven't stopped reading or writing since (though that was the end of my illustrating career). OFFBEAT, my first novel for middle grade readers is now available from Orca Books.
A little bit more about me...
At university, I studied sociology and English literature. In the summers, I held a number of random but interesting jobs. I prepped salads at 6am for a deli, served coffee to executives in a huge office tower and worked at a busy border crossing. I have travelled to 40 countries, including 3 months living and volunteering in Guyana, where I had the chance to meet a whole new community, make bricks and track Leatherback sea turtles.
I then spent more than 10 years in the non-profit sector writing content to persuade and inspire people to donate money to worthy causes. I've had the chance to research and write about orca whales, clean water, housing affordability, women and girls' empowerment, healthy living, mental health and more topics than I can list! I now take on writing and editing freelance contracts.
I live near the mountains in North Vancouver, BC with my husband, son and two incredibly fuzzy orange cats.
